Apps4Industry - Business tools for productivity
Are you using Apps and Smartphones in your business processes?

Since the introduction of the iPhone, Apps have grown at a phenomenal rate.

By 2012, Apples App store boasted over 600,000, Android over 500,000, and new platforms were entering the market including Windows Phone and Ovi for Nokia and Symbian.

We use them in our daily lives, but usually for media, gaming, communication or travel. But consider how many organisations are using them for business or industry applications?

A Powerful Instrument
The functionality and features of the smartphone, combined with software applications, is a combination capable of providing industry with very powerful instruments that may be used in a variety of applications to reduce leadtimes, improve productivity and reduce costs.

Consider the sensory capability of the typical smartphone. On board you have a microphone, gyroscope, camera and GPS that provide a broad scope of data logging options. Combining this capability with a Bluetooth connection to other data sources, or utilising USB On-The-Go with other peripheral devices, and you have a device capable of managing or controlling key industrial or business processes.

Now add connectivity through wireless or 3G, and with the smartphones high quality display, you now have a very powerful, versatile instrument, driven by tailored applications.

Apps developed for industry will continue to emerge to provide businesses with a new suite of low cost, versatile tools and instruments that will improve the productivity of their business, but how do you keep up to date with this fast moving technology?

Our Mission
Is Simple: To identify to the UK Technology the business Apps that may be of value to their business.

Sharing this knowledge will enable UK businesses to engage as early adopters and take advantage of new applications and developments as they emerge.

Our first task is to map out the Apps that are already out there and may be useful to our community.

Over 90% of Apps developed to date are "Gaming" related. The App Stores rate Apps based upon popularity, (which again panders to the popular Gaming industry), so it really is like looking for a needle in a haystack trying to find a relevant business App.

You may already be aware of Apps that are useful for business, or you may be a developer of these Apps.

We would like you to let us know what is out there so we can categorise Apps4Industry as an essential information portal for UK business.
