Cambridge Wireless Healthcare SIG - In Joint Sponsorship with Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Cambridge University Health Partners. 'Hospitals of the Future - e-Hospital – Open Platforms, Secure Innovative Applications?' The need for mobile clinical application innovation is clear, but the need for patient security is paramount. This half-day event will provide a clear discussion on the challenging associated issues. For example, could a mobile application store form the deployment platform for distributing innovative solutions over which all care organisations (GPs, hospitals, social care, etc) provide integrated secure services? This series takes an innovative approach to design the possible e-hospital of the future. By Teresa Fagg (24/05/12) ... more
Understanding Power Quality - Poor power quality is any variation in an electrical power supply which results in mal-operation or premature failure of equipment. The variations can be caused, for example, by voltage disturbances such as voltage dips, over voltages and their effects can range from the annoying, such as PC shutting down or lights flickering, to serious equipment damage and industrial production being halted, which can be extremely costly. Cambridge Wireless International SIG ‘Going Green in the East' - This SIG spotlights three major global markets; Japan, China and India all of which are focusing on energy conservation, development of energy efficiency and expansion of urban infrastructure. Following on from last year’s earthquake and tsunami Japan’s focus has undergone a huge shift where possibilities now exist for organisations ranging from smart grid communities to alternative power. China’s demand, increased by economic growth, has motivated the Chinese government to prioritise areas such as carbon finance and energy diversification. India also has plans to inject over $1 trillion US dollars into urban infrastructure and advanced green energy technology. This half-day SIG looks at the very real opportunities for overseas organisations to seize and fulfil these demands. By Teresa Fagg (14/06/12) ... more
